Industry Specific ComplianceThe National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) on September 09, 2026, introduced an Upfront Payment System to simplify the invoicing and payment process for laboratories and reduce administrative burden. Effective October 1, 2026, a single consolidated invoice for all applicable annual charges will be raised after completion of scrutiny, covering Assessment Charges (Honorarium), Overhead Charges, and the Annual Accreditation Fee, which must be paid before the proposed assessment date. The application fee will continue to be payable at the time of application submission, with GST applicable at prevailing rates.

Travel, boarding, lodging and TA/DA expenses will continue to be invoiced separately after completion of the assessment. NABL stated that it intends to integrate these expenses into the upfront payment system in the future. The revised process is aimed at reducing multiple invoices and transactions and enabling laboratories to manage accreditation-related payments through a more streamlined and transparent mechanism.
